April 1, 2017: church wedding in Point of Rocks, MD
Most of the weddings I've shot so far have been held outdoors. As such, I was excited when Lauren and Marcos asked me to shoot their ceremony at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Point of Rocks, MD.
We started the day with some shots of the two of them getting ready. The large, sun-filled windows in Marcos' prep photos were a huge blessing. Whenever possible, I prefer to use natural light rather than flash.
Lauren's daughter had her hair done in the basement after her mom. She didn't seem too camera-shy. :-)
Since the wedding was held before a regular Sunday service, the audience included family, friends, and people in the local congregation.
The space was a little challenging for photography. Given the setup of the pews, I wasn't able to move in front of the couple without becoming a distraction. On the other hand, I was able to get some overhead shots thanks to the empty balcony. On a side note, the officiant was none other than Marcos' dad! I'm guessing it was kinda cool to perform the wedding for his own son.
Once everyone congratulated the couple, I took some portraits of Lauren and Marcos and some close-ups of the rings inside the chapel.
All the best to you both in the days ahead, Lauren and Marcos!
