December 6, 2016: church wedding in Glenn Dale, MD
James was mostly suited up by the time I arrived at his childhood home, but I managed to get a few shots of him completing the outfit.
The wedding itself was held at St. George's Episcopal Church in Glenn Dale, MD. As Brian and I waited for the ceremony to begin, we captured a few quick shots of the couple's parents putting the finishing touches on their attire.
This venue was a breeze to photograph since it was easy to move to different shooting locations without becoming a distraction. I spent most of my time using longer focal lengths such as 100mm and 200mm. I prefer to avoid walking into the aisles if I can.
While Brian took the main family portraits, I focused on alternative angles and reactions from those waiting their turn.
James and Sarah held their reception at the pavilion at the Carderock Recreation Area, a park near Potomac, MD. A volunteer army of family and friends decorated the joint while the couple explored the nearby woods with the primary photographer.
As you can see, the party had a casual, relaxed feel.
All of the guests took their seats at the many picnic tables. Then, James and Sarah entered to much fanfare for the traditional toasts and first dances.
Most people crowded under the pavilion once torrential rain started. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the company despite the storm.
To end the festivities, James and Sarah sprinted through a tunnel of buzzing kazoos and shaking streamers.
Thanks again to James, Sarah, and Brian for allowing me to be a part of this celebration!
