October 13, 2016: wedding at Gadsby's Tavern in Alexandria, VA

Jill and Andy decided to get married at their favorite restaurant in Alexandria, VA: Gadsby's Tavern.  This place is so historic that it has its own Wikipedia page!  Famous visitors include none other than George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and James Monroe.

Jill's daughter and Andy's daughter were both out of town, so they attended the wedding via video chat.  I had fun incorporating the phone and the tablet into the photos.

Due to incessant rain that afternoon, Jill and Andy held the wedding in one of the tavern's dining rooms (instead of the nearby garden as originally planned).  It was a joy to watch them smile at each other throughout the ceremony.  Their officiant Barbara Watts did a great job personalizing her remarks to their relationship.

Once they'd exchanged rings, vows, and a kiss, Jill and Andy shared a toast and gave their daughters a better view of the space.

We took some posed portraits inside and outside the tavern to wrap up.  Jill and Andy executed the solemn shot on the chairs perfectly.  :-)

Congratulations, Jill and Andy!  It was a pleasure working with you.
