April 30, 2016: Marine One and the White House

A couple weeks ago, I was walking from the Tidal Basin to the National Mall to catch an Uber home after shooting a proposal.  On my way, I noticed a helicopter from the Marine One fleet running laps to and from the White House.  (Marine One is the name for the helicopter that transports the President.)  I talked to a few other onlookers who thought the pilots were training (the President was in Great Britain at the time).  I postponed my trip home since the chopper was available for such a long time during a beautiful sunset.

The next evening, I visited the White House again while my wife attended a seminar for work.  I didn't bring my tripod, so I took a few abstract photos.  I especially like the one with the bars of the fence streaking across the north fa├žade.  The last shot is actually the south entrance of the U.S. Treasury.

This reminds me: I still need some realistic photos of the White House for my DC monuments page.  We'll see how long it takes me to remember to do that.
